The Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture received N$ 970 million from the 2024-2025 fiscal year budget, tabled on February 28, 2024 in Windhoek.
The Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Iipumbi Shiimi, has stated that this amount will cater for the construction and renovation of classrooms and school facilities in Namibia.
The finance minister also said the funding underscores the ministry's acknowledgment of the need to close the education infrastructure gap and reduce significant disparities in access to social infrastructure, particularly among rural and low-income areas.
Shiimi further stated that the goal is to invest in human capital development as a long-term accelerator for sustainable development and poverty reduction.
"These allocations make a huge difference in the day-to-day lives of learners and the communities they come from, and we are encouraged to do more, resources permitting," Shiimi said.
